Ingredient-Related CBD Questions
Will CBD get me high?
Nope! CBD, while it is a cannabinoid as is THC, is very different. It doesn’t have the same effects on the body and will not get you high.
Will GMHC CBD products make me fail a drug test?
In nearly every case, the answer is no. As our CBD comes from the hemp plant and is not manufactured in a lab, there is a trace amount of THC present. While there are different tests and different standards for the amount of THC a person can have in their body, the CBD oil we use in our products is below the Federal standard of .3% before we add other ingredients. Meaning that not only is there very little THC but also that you are extremely unlikely to fail a drug test. The most likely exception is if you are using extremely high-doses of CBD, consuming several hundred mg per day.
Can I take CBD with my current medications or with other substances? Will CBD interfere with my medicines?
In nearly every case, the answer is yes, but we’re unable to provide you with specific information. It’s best that you consult with your medical professional to be sure.
Can I use GMHC products if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
As with the question about drug interactions, it’s best to consult with a medical professional. We can say we don’t recommend our Flex product during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the ingredients used.
What is MCT Oil?
MCT is an abbreviation for Medium Chain Triglycerides. These are oils (fat) found in certain plants, the highest quality coming from coconuts. We use coconut MCT oil as a “carrier oil” in our products because CBD itself is very powerful in a very small amount. This way you’re not wasting any by taking too much at a time. This is standard practice in the CBD world, and in many other industries.
Do any of your products contain propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycerin (VG)?
Nope. 🙂
CBD Dosage Information
What’s the best way to administer GMHC CBD tinctures? What dosage should I start with?
Use the measured dropper to measure out the amount of CBD you wish to take. Drop CBD under the tongue and hold for 30 to 45 seconds before swallowing for optimal absorption. If new to CBD, we suggest taking .50 mL twice daily. If you don’t see the results you want in 7 days, slowly increase the amount and/or frequency until you see the desired result.
How long will CBD effects last?
There are a lot of variables to this question, but here are some general guidelines to consider.
Vaporized CBD – 3-4 hours
Topical CBD – 3-4 hours
Oral CBD – 12 hours
CBD Edibles – 12 hours
Can animals or people overdose on CBD?
While research on CBD is still pretty new, there is no evidence that animals or people can overdose. There is no toxicity associated with CBD, and the worst effect you might experience is lethargy from taking too much. If this happens, simply reduce the amount you take. This is one of the reasons we recommend that you start with a small amount and work your way up over time.
Are there any side effects to taking CBD?
The most common side effects might be lethargy (sleepiness) if you or your pet takes more than your body may need at a given time. This may not be a bad thing in cases of exhaustion, high anxiety or anticipation of an anxiety attack.
How do I know the right CBD dose for myself or my pet?
Even though there’s no risk for toxicity, studies suggest that CBD should be introduced slowly and gradually, increasing dosage over a period of 1 to 3 days until optimal results have been achieved.
What if my pet or a loved one is recovering from a serious injury or condition?
Dosage can vary quite a bit from one situation to the next. You can increase the dose as needed in certain situations during a period of time. We call this a “rescue dosage.” For example, you may need more in situations like taking your pet to the vet, during a thunderstorm, after an injury or surgery, or any other triggers you or your pet may experience.
Can I take CBD to help with sleep?
Yes. Make sure your dose is high enough that you feel sleepy. Your dose should be higher at night than during the day. For optimal results during the daytime, you should be calm and energized yet feel relief from your symptoms.
What about the varying sizes of individuals or animals? How do we know the precise dose?
There are many factors to consider besides size and weight when it comes to proper dosing. Although we use weight as a reference point to start an individual’s dose, everyone metabolizes CBD differently, and it also depends on how many cannabinoid receptors an individual or animal has.
For example, many believe because a horse is so large that it must require a high dose, when in fact a horse has a very sensitive ECS (endocannabinoid system). Thus, the technique of starting at a lower dose and increasing the dose until optimal results are achieved still applies. That does not mean that they can’t end up on a high dose due to their injury, pain or anxiety levels. The basic rule is your dosage is contingent upon pain level or need for relief.
Can I take CBD with alcohol?
Yes, though the science behind the effects is varied. If you’re taking CBD to address a particular concern, try to avoid alcohol within 4-8 hours of taking it. The seemingly worst case scenario is that you might experience a variance in the effects – either stronger or weaker, depending on the specifics.
Dosage Information – Animals/Pets
How can I administer CBD to my pet?
Drop the recommended dose for your pet directly on food/favorite treat or on a paw so they can lick it off. For animals that tolerate it, you can apply directly to their tongue.
You can also drop inside your pet’s ears for transdermal absorption. This will also help your floors clean.
How much CBD should I give my pets for anxiety, arthritis, separation anxiety, etc?
While we can’t make any specific claims about what conditions CBD can treat in animals or people, we can say that many people report seeing relief for these conditions with their pets. The amount to administer can vary, and our advice is the same for this as it is for any other reason – start small, and slowly increase over time until you reach the desired effect.

The short answer is that there is no short answer. In theory, you should be able to bring any CBD products on domestic US flights without issue.
